Hello. This is my blog, as you can see. This blog is basically following my experiences as a chocolatier. So hold on to your hats. It all started with a donut when I was around 2-3 years old. It was a good donut. It was a donut filled with custard, it was covered in chocolate ganache, and it was topped with little chocolate poppers. The donut was from Blue Star, which was (and still is) my favorite place to get donuts. In case you are wondering, Blue Star is on Abbot Kinney, in Venice, California. I used to live close to there, and there was a good restaurant nearby, so it quickly became my favorite dessert: a donut from Blue Star.
The next time I remember chocolate, I think I was three. I was at my favorite pancake place, the Proud Bird, which was near the landing strip of the Los Angeles International LAX airport. There was a magnificent chocolate fountain, and It was so tall that my grandfather had to hold me up so that I could reach it. I dunked strawberries, marshmallows, and probably a lot more. This one was an important one, because I think it was the first time I had had pure chocolate, and boy was it good. So we now enter a time warp, and speed ahead something like 5-6 years to my eighth birthday, when I happily received a chocolate fountain of my own. And then my chocolate experience really kicked into high gear. At this point, I am nine, and my aforementioned grandfather is taking me on a tour of all of the greatest chocolatiers in Los Angeles. And the tour continues to this day.
